On March 8, 2013, in Science, Sinclair et.al, published evidence that resveratrol or its mimetics stimulate the SIRT1 enzyme when certain amino acids are present.  Resveratrol also modulates the activity of other proteins, so it' is still unclear which effects from resveratrol are due to changes in SIRT1 function.
